The weather outside is rather gloomy and I thought the temperature has plummeted too (in comparison to the short sunny spell we had last week). After my Sunday run this morning (ahem!), I thought I’d stay in for the rest of the day. It’s just too cold outside and I know myself too well – I’ll end up shopping whenever I go out!
I usually do my weekly face/hair treatment in the evening, but after lunch today, I thought why not get it out of the way now. I am after all not doing very much at home.
These are for my hair and facial treatment.
I am sure you are no stranger to the benefits of using coconut oil as part of your beauty regime. If you don’t know, firstly where have you been? And secondly, go and google now!
I use virgin coconut oil (or VCO which sounds cooler and less mouthful!) and lemon concoction as a hair treatment. I typically combine two tea spoons of VCO and a squeeze of lemon. Coconut oil tends to be in solid form in room temperature and to liquidise it, I heat up a bowl of water in the microwave (on High for two minutes), and then I put the bowl containing the VCO + lemon juice rest inside the bowl of water that had been heated. I much prefer this method than heating coconut oil directly inside the microwave. I often find the end result is too hot which is not good for the scalp. Of course you can wait for it to cool down, but I never have the patience.
I often start by massaging the oil onto my scalp first and if there is any leftover, I will apply some to the roots of my hair. Some people advice that you should leave it for up to 2 hours, but because I hardly have any patience nor time, I often wash it off after about 30 minutes. I often don’t use conditioner after this treatment and yet still find my hair feels soft and smooth. Not to mention smells great too!
And while doing the hair treatment I thought why not put on a facial mask as well? I am currently using this Clarins Pure and Radiant mask, which is suited for those who have oily and/or combination skin. I only need to only apply a thin layer onto my face (avoiding the eye area), leave it to dry for 5-10 minutes and wash off. The result is fab – soft, fresh and radiant skin.
I think am now ready for Monday! Bring it on!
