My love for nail polish is pretty much driven from my high maintenance nails. My nails are often weak, easily chipped and if that is not bad enough, my cuticles are thick, dry and grow fairly fast too. I have tried almost everything to address these issues, and I have come to accept the fact that professional manicure is the only way to keep my fingers looking pristine.
As I live in London where manicure and pedicure can be a bit on the expensive side, I have found a routine that just about work – fortnightly manicure and monthly pedicure. I’ve noticed a big difference in the condition of my nails since incorporating this routine (and budget!) as part of my beauty regime.
In terms of colours, I am not hugely adventurous. I think this is mainly driven from the industry that I work in. As you know financial services is one of the most (if not the most) conservative industries when it comes to office attire and colour choices. This to a certain degree has influenced the choices of colours for my nails whereby, I tend to choose either side of the extremes – either very dark or almost natural with the occasional choice of french manicure. I do apply more fun and funky colours, but these tend to see the light of days when I go for my summer holidays.
My top three neutral colours from OPI are Malaysia Mist, which has a slight peach undertone, Sweetheart and My Very First Knockwurst, which both have a more pink undertone.
As we transition into A/W, it is no surprise that wine or vampy are my go to colours. I am absolutely obsessed with Malaga Wine from OPI. This is almost my go to colour regardless of seasons when I am feeling uninspired to decide on a colour. I have recently made a purchase from Essie in the shade Wicked. I have yet to try, but I definitely will take it to the nail spa the next time I go to get my manicure done.
What about you? What are you favourite nail colours? Are you the type of person who experiment with colours or do you have favourite colours that you tend to go back to every time? And if you have any tried and tested remedies that could address my nails issues, feel free to share. I would love to hear ’em!
